Job summary
WingSwept is now accepting applications in the Network Support division for a self-motivated Tier 2/3 Systems Administrator or Engineer. This is a full-time position with benefits to include training opportunities, profit sharing, bonuses, paid time off, health insurance, 401(k) with matching contributions and flexible work schedule.  The ideal candidate for this position will have an affinity for computers and a broad knowledge of various computer and network systems. The ideal candidate will also have a thirst for knowledge and an ability to tackle new problems quickly by using available research tools to successfully remedy issues with little supervision.  The most successful candidates will previously have provided server/network support with other IT service providers for SMB customers.
 
The responsibilities of the position may include:
  • Provide remote and on-site workstation, server, and network support to a growing list of clients
  • Install, configure and maintain desktop, server and network appliance equipment
  • Design and implement various network infrastructure pieces in an SMB environment
  • Fill various roles as part of a project team to work on various technology-related projects
  • Manage various backup technologies in order to ensure the integrity of client systems backups
  • Update knowledge base in order to provide continuity among other company personnel
  • Communicate ticket status and document updates to clients and technical staff as needed
  • Provide first level after hours and holiday on-call support on a revolving basis with other staff
  • Keep information regarding our clients, their data, and other sensitive information confidential
  • Investigate new technologies for use internally and in client environments
  • Monitor internal and client services for any possible issues and provide issue resolution
  • Interact with clients and vendors over the phone and in person in a professional manner
 
Minimum requirements:
  • Must be legally in the US and able to pass a US government background check
  • High school diploma, at least two years of secondary education preferred
  • Must have a valid driver license and reliable transportation for travel as far as 75 miles from the office
  • Must be able to work a full-time 40 hour work week, with occasional after-hours support
  • Exceptional computer and system administration skills on Microsoft-based clients and servers
  • Firm understanding of networking fundamentals
  • Good verbal and written communication skills for interactions with customers on a daily basis
  • Ability & willingness to operate in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a calm demeanor and maintaining a “win/win” attitude
 
Extra consideration given for any of the following:
  • Previous experience as a system administrator/engineer or equivalent role
  • Previous experience with ConnectWise PSA or Kaseya RMM
  • Intricate knowledge/experience with server and network diagnostics, design, and installation
  • Expertise with networking topics such as routing, VLANs, QoS, VPN
  • Expertise with Microsoft Windows Server, MS Exchange, or MS SQL
  • Expertise with VDI technologies (Citrix XenApp, MS RDS, VMWare View, etc.)
  • Expertise with virtualization technologies like vSphere and HyperV
  • Expertise with cloud hosting providers (AWS, Azure, others)
  • CompTIA Network+, Security+, Microsoft and other industry certifications
  • Experience with SonicWALL and / or Cisco firewalls and other appliances
  • Experience with scripting / automation (PowerShell, VBscript, Perl, WSH)
  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix based operating systems and system administration
  • Experience with phone wiring and phone switch installation / programming / maintenance
  • Experience working on project teams or with project management
 
Compensation
Salary will be determined based on the qualifications of the candidate. Salary histories and references are required. Consideration may be given to exceptionally qualified individuals who meet the overwhelming majority of the extra consideration requirements.
